Echo Wheel of Liverpool III
Last of the shots of the big wheel, for now anyway. Trying to find a different angle of the wheel, this shot was taken from the Liverpool Marina.
The Echo Wheel of Liverpool II
Second shot of the new wheel on the waterfront – still disappointed it’s not the other way round so it’ll be more visible from the Wirral side (the Liverpool One wheel was mostly obscured by other buildings) but no-one ever thinks of the photographers….
The Echo Wheel of Liverpool
One of two shots of the wheel I managed to get before being moved on by Arena security (very politely, it must be said.) The wheel is 60 foot high and you’re supposed to be able to see all the way to Wales on a good day – not been on yet so I’ll reserve judgement.
I can’t make my mind up whether this looks better in colour or black and white, so have a look at the mono version here.
Calm
I took this photo at Hoylake a couple of weekends ago – I haven’t been so cold in a long time! I was struggling to get steady shots with a tripod as I was dithering so much – there was a mother and daughter there at the same time trying to get the same shot but with a tiny compact camera – after many attempts and much swearing, they eventually gave in. I like the dampening effect that fog has on the surrounding area – it was so quiet it was eerie. Bitterly, bitterly cold day.
Victoria Street Reflection

Been a while since I’ve done any reflection shots so here’s one of Victoria Street. The building on the left is one of my favourites in Liverpool, reminds me of the Flat Iron building in New York.
Mini Graffiti II – Grafton Street, Liverpool

The very last of this series of graffiti pics, I promise! This is a similar shot to my last post but with the Mini moved real close – interestingly I went along Grafton Street the other day and this graffiti is already in the process of being covered up by different graffiti.
I’ve really enjoyed taking these photos and I’m starting to get quite a collection of graffiti photos together – might look at knocking a book up. I’ve used myphotobook.co.uk in the past for books – bit pricey but the quality of their books are top notch.
Next series of shots will be from the cathedrals – haven’t been around them for a while and they’re always a good source of inspiration.
Mini Graffiti – Grafton Street, Liverpool

Different take on the graffiti from Grafton Street – shown in the back window of my Mini. I’ve added some more wallpapers, including a LFC one and a Beatles one – have a look and if there are any photos that you’d like to see added, let me know.
Our Lady and Saint Nicholas in Unity – Chapel Street, Liverpool

Yet another reflection shot – I don’t know why I’m compelled to take so many, I just am!
This shot is a reflection of Saint Nicholas in the Unity Building on Chapel Street. I noticed this shot ages ago but I’ve never been able to get a shot I like enough to take the time to process it, pleased with this one though.
Rileys at Formby, Liverpool

I was at Formby today taking photos for my side project and I happened upon these three Rileys in the car park – they were gorgeous machines in beautiful condition, it really was a pleasure to stand and admire them.
On reflection – North John Street, Liverpool

Thinking about it I really do have too many reflection shots on this blog – it’s becoming a bit of a habit!
I’ve also got a lot of shots of these buildings in my collection but they’ve most been taken when I’ve been trying to get this shot right. This is one of those shots that I’ve had in my head for a while and never managed to get it the way I want but on Tuesday we had just the right mix of clouds and blue skies, shame that the weather doesn’t appear to have held for the Bank Holiday.
Meet Me At The Pier – Southport

The Pier at Southport, captured at a still time on an otherwise blustery day. I’d love to go back and get this shot when the tide is in.
I watch the ripples change their size – Pier Head, Liverpool

The new buildings on Mann Island start to take shape on a misty night down by the waterfront. I seriously remain to be convinced by this development – can’t help but wonder if this is a change too far for the city, especially given that there’s not exactly a shortage of office or residential space at the moment.
You can see exactly how the finished development will look here – I’ll leave it you to judge whether or not the waterfront is enhanced by the buildings.
Royal Insurance Building – North John Street, Liverpool

Reflection of the Royal Liver Building on North John Street. I’m posting these as these are the best shots I’ve been able to get – I can do better but never seem to get the right conditions on my way past. It’d help if the windows ever got cleaned.
Web of Light, Reflected – Exchange Flags, Liverpool

Ai Weiwei sculpture for the Liverpool Biennial, Exchange Flags. Took me ages to get this shot, tripod at lowest, trying not to get me knees or arse wet…
