First in a series of images taken of the cathedrals in Liverpool – the series will have one photo of the Catholic Metropolitan cathedral then one of the Anglican Liverpool cathedral and so on – I want to show just how different they are and think this is a good way to do it.

The Metropolitan is an extremely striking building – I’ve never really encountered anything else like it.  Designed by Sir Frederick Gibberd, building started in October 1962 and was completed less than five years later in May 1967.  The external design of the building is certainly different and the light when you get inside is incredible.
