Jaume Plensa exhibition at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park. Plensa created the Dream statue on the outskirts of St.Helens, which I love so when I found out he had a massive exhibition at the YSP I was always going to go.

I’d never been to the park before and was amazed at the sheer size of it and the amount of work contained within – if you’ve never been I’d definitely recommend it and if you want to see the Plensa work, you’ll have to be quick – the exhibition finishes on the 22nd of January.

There are two statues, this one represents Day and another, oddly enough, representing Night – both the work of sculptor Edmund C. Thompson.

This photo was taken at night, I think the lighting from above gives the statues a more dramatic air.

First attempt at video below – shot on Nikon D90.  The video shows the speed that TTPO used to rotate at.

I’m not entirely sure why I haven’t, as the buildings of Liverpool are the main cornerstone of my photography and there’s some fantastic architecture in this area – the Philharmonic Hall, the world famous for it’s bogs” Philharmonic pub and this building, which was originally built as a school for the blind and has since been the HQ for Liverpool police and housed the Merseyside TUC.  It’s currently empty and failed to sell at auction earlier in the year, guide price of £1.5 million.  Shame, as it’s a fabulous building in a livelier part of town.

I visited quite late on in the day and it was completely empty which gave the whole thing a very eerie air – the rays sway very gently in the breeze and it’s vaguely unsettling.
